My Story About Golf

2 Golf Shocking Stories and 2 Untold Stories:

A. Shocking Golf Story 1

After 100 days of self training, I finally 100% confidently can manage to hit an 8-iron. It has not mattered where the ball landed, I have always hit a perfect shot with an 8-iron. This skill had become my second nature just like my native languages. I was so sure this skill will have stayed with me forever. So, I was very proud of how I self-taught myself and improved my performance. However, after I picked up a driver one night…. I swung one basket of golf balls with it, which is only less than about 120 balls… guess what, my skill of hitting 8-iron was gone… This still continues to shock me for the rest of my life. I am in total disbelief; I am so panicked sometimes. I will not forget that day someone/something took away my invisible power. I thought someone might be able to take away your belongings or property, but no one/nothing can take away your invisible power, skill and knowledge -- which require time, a lot of effort and wisdom to build up slowly. Suddenly, it just disappeared. It sounds so scary and impossible, but this is 100% true.

It happened to me because golf has 14 golf clubs; though they swing similar, still they are different, such as length, angle, weight, etc.

Does any sport have 14 paddles, racket, balls, etc? That is why I have said, “Golf is the most difficult sport in the world.”

B. Shocking Golf Story 2

After less than 100 days of intense self-training and watching the golf channel, guess what my handicap score kept getting higher and got worse. In my life, if I put in effort on anything --including any sport such as tennis, basketball, swimming, baseball, table tennis, bowling, etc-- my score and performance will get a huge improvement but not golf; this shocked me and angered me very much. My concentration level is extremely powerful and high; I can focus on anything within 10 seconds anywhere and anytime. So, why did the opposite happen with my handicap?

C. Untold Story 1

Compare my tennis friend and golf friends; I always think my tennis friends are a little bit smarter than my golf friends. Why? Because, my tennis friend’s skill also keep improving, while my golf friends’ scores stay the same or worse every time we played; they never really improved.

D. Untold Story 2

Some of my friends have been playing golf for more than 30 years, and my parents have been playing golf for over 50 years. I saw them keep changing golf instructors. Even, there was one time they decided to get golf teaching licenses so every day they went to the driving range to get trained and play the whole afternoon for more than one year; but none of the instructors could help them get certificates. My parents are very sporty; they are very good at swimming, bowling and baseball, etc. My dad also is a super GO chess player, (he beats me all the time). He and my mom are very successful business partners as well. Finally, as they are getting older they play less golf, they do not have a passion like before, and stay away from golf now. Why?
